The Toyo range and who each tyre suits
- Proxes Sport 2. The performance tyre for a WRX, Golf GTI, 86, Mustang or a 3 Series, with the Proxes Sport SUV covering a performance SUV. Proxes R888R sits above it for track days.
- Proxes Comfort and Proxes CF2. The touring tyres: quiet, long-wearing and good in the wet for a Camry, Mazda6, Forester, Outback or a mid-size SUV. The like-for-like replacement when a Subaru came on Proxes from the factory.
- Proxes TR1. The budget performance tyre for a hot hatch or sports car driven on a budget.
- NanoEnergy 3. The economy tyre for a Yaris, Swift, Jazz or Corolla where price and fuel economy come first.
- Open Country. The 4WD family: U/T and H/T for the road, A/T III for all-terrain, R/T for rugged terrain, M/T for mud.

Toyo questions we get asked most
A/T III or R/T? The A/T III is quieter on the highway and better in the wet, and it suits a ute that spends most of its life on sealed roads. The R/T has more off-road bite and a tougher sidewall but hums on the bitumen. Be honest about how often the vehicle leaves the sealed road.
Proxes Sport 2 or Proxes Comfort? If the car is the sports version and you enjoy driving it, Sport 2. If you want it quiet and long-wearing, Comfort. On an Outback or Forester the Comfort is the right call; on a WRX it isn't.
Is Toyo worth it over a Korean brand? On a passenger car it's close and the price difference is small. On a 4WD the Open Country A/T III is a clear step up from most mid-range all-terrains for noise and wear, and that's where Toyo earns its name.

Toyo sits in the mid-range, with Yokohama and Dunlop above it and the Korean brands alongside. A Proxes Comfort or CF2 in a common 16 or 17-inch size is usually $160 to $230 a tyre at Melbourne retailers; the Proxes Sport 2 runs from the mid $200s up in 18 and 19 inch; Open Country 4WD sizes land between $250 and $400 depending on the pattern. Every Toyo we fit is balanced on the Hunter SmartWeight Pro and the wheel alignment is set on the Hunter HawkEye Elite.
