Most modern Volvos want a service every 12 months or 15,000 km, whichever comes first. The Drive-E petrol and diesel engines have their own fluid and filter intervals, and the plug-in Recharge hybrids add a few extra checks — we service to your exact model rather than a one-size-fits-all schedule.

The Volvo jobs we see most
Volvos are built to last, but a few things are simply known to need attention:
- PCV / crankcase breather blockage on the older five-cylinder engines. When it clogs it pushes oil past seals and can cause leaks — a known Volvo job we know how to sort.
- Transmission servicing. The auto is often sold as 'sealed for life', but a proper fluid change is one of the best things you can do for its lifespan. We do it with the correct spec.
- Angle gear and rear diff on the AWD models. They need the right oil at the right interval, or they get noisy and expensive.
- Electrical and software faults. Modules, sensors and the odd infotainment gremlin — we diagnose properly rather than guessing.
- Cooling system and water pump, plus the usual brakes, suspension and bushes.

What does a Volvo service cost?
Less than the dealer, and agreed before we start. A basic service is a smaller job than a full inspection with extra filters and fluids, and any repair or transmission service is priced separately. Signs your Volvo is due for a look
You don't have to wait for the service light. Book it in sooner if you notice any of these:
- An orange service message or a warning light on the dash that won't clear
- The auto is hunting between gears, slipping or shifting harder than it used to
- A whine or growl from the driveline on the AWD models — often the angle gear or rear diff
- Blue smoke or rising oil use on the older five-cylinder engines — usually the PCV system
- The ride has gone harsh or clunky over bumps
- It's simply been 12 months or 15,000 km since the last stamp
