Michelin is the brand people ask for when they want a tyre that stays quiet and grips in the wet right to the end of its life: Primacy on family sedans and SUVs, Pilot Sport on performance cars, CrossClimate for all-weather use. It costs more up front than most brands and usually lasts longer. We can supply and fit the Michelin range at our Knoxfield workshop, balance on the Hunter SmartWeight Pro and align on the Hunter HawkEye Elite. Free tyre check first.

The Michelin range and who each tyre suits
- Primacy 4+ and Primacy 5. The touring tyres. Quiet, long-wearing and strong in the wet on a Camry, Mazda6, CX-5, RAV4, Golf or a European sedan. If your car came on Primacy from the factory, this is the like-for-like replacement, and the current Primacy 5 is a step up from older Primacy 3 and 4 fitments.
- Pilot Sport 5. The performance tyre for a Golf GTI, WRX, Mustang, BMW 3 Series or a Mercedes with the sports pack. Sharper steering and better dry grip than a touring tyre, without the harsh ride of a track tyre. Pilot Sport 4S and the newer Pilot Sport S 5 sit above it for AMG, M and RS models.
- Pilot Sport 4 SUV. The same idea for a performance SUV: Macan, X3 M40i, GLC 43, Stelvio.
- CrossClimate 2. Michelin's all-weather tyre. Melbourne doesn't get snow, but a car that lives outdoors and does early-morning country runs benefits from the cold-and-wet grip. Popular on SUVs and hatches alike.
- Latitude Sport 3 and Primacy SUV+. Larger SUV tyres, often original fitment on a Range Rover, Q7, X5 or GLE. Quiet and composed on a heavy car.
- e.Primacy. Built for EVs and hybrids: low rolling resistance for range, reinforced for the weight, and quiet.
- LTX Trail and Agilis. Highway-biased 4WD tyres for a Prado or Everest that stays on sealed roads, and the van tyre for a HiAce or Transit.
Michelin questions we get asked most
Like for like, or something different? If the car was quiet and rode well on its original Michelins, stay with them. If you've only had one set and they wore faster than you expected, tell us how the car is driven; a Primacy instead of a Pilot Sport, or the other way round, can be the better match.
Primacy or CrossClimate? Primacy is the quieter, longer-wearing choice for mostly suburban driving. CrossClimate 2 earns its keep on a car that does the Black Spur or the Hume in winter and sits outside overnight.
Is Michelin worth it on a non-European car? Often yes. A Primacy on a Corolla, i30 or Mazda3 is a noticeable step up in quietness from the original tyre, and the owner who keeps the car for years gets the wear benefit. We'll show you a Michelin price next to a mid-priced alternative and let you choose.

What Michelin tyres cost
Michelin sits at the top of the price range, with a common-size Primacy in the low $200s per tyre and a Pilot Sport in 17 or 18 inch usually between the high $200s and mid $300s, depending on size and marking. The size on your sidewall decides the price more than anything else. Our guide to what new tyres cost in Melbourne explains the ranges by brand and size; for your car, call with the size and we'll quote a fitted price on the spot.
