The Hankook range and who each tyre suits
- Ventus Prime 4. The all-rounder and the one we fit most: quiet, good in the wet, and sharp enough for a Golf, i30, Mazda3 or a C-Class that isn't the AMG. Available in a wide spread of 15 to 19 inch sizes.
- Ventus S1 evo3. The performance tyre, original fitment on a long list of BMW, Mercedes and Audi models in the star, MO and AO markings. The S1 evo3 SUV version covers an X3, GLC or Q5.
- Kinergy Eco2. The economy touring tyre for a Yaris, Swift, Accent or Picanto: low rolling resistance, long wear, lowest price in the range.
- Dynapro HP2 and HT. The SUV tyres. HP2 for a road-going Santa Fe, Tucson, RAV4 or Kluger; HT (RH12) for a Prado or Everest that stays on the bitumen.
- Dynapro AT2 and MT2. The 4WD tyres. AT2 is the all-terrain for a HiLux, Ranger, Navara or Triton; MT2 is the mud tyre for one that goes bush.
- Vantra. The van and light commercial tyre for a HiAce, Transit or Sprinter.
- iON evo. The EV range for Tesla, Ioniq, EV6 and Polestar: quiet, low rolling resistance, reinforced for the weight.
Hankook questions we get asked most
Do I need the star, MO or AO marking? Those letters mean the tyre was built to a BMW, Mercedes or Audi specification. On a car still under warranty it's worth matching; on an older car the standard tyre of the same pattern is fine and cheaper. We'll tell you which applies.
Ventus Prime or Kinergy? Prime 4 if you care how the car steers and stops in the wet; Kinergy Eco2 if the car is a city runabout and price and economy matter most. On a mid-size sedan the Prime 4 is usually worth the small difference.
Is Hankook worth it against a Michelin or Continental? On a car that does high kilometres or gets driven hard, the top-tier brand will last longer and grip better when half-worn. On a family car doing suburban kilometres, the Hankook is most of the tyre for two-thirds of the money, and we'll show you both prices.

Hankook sits in the mid-range with Kumho and Nexen. A Ventus Prime 4 or Kinergy in a common 16 or 17-inch size is usually $160 to $240 a tyre at Melbourne retailers; performance 18 and 19-inch S1 evo3 sizes and the Dynapro 4WD sizes cost more.
