The Maxxis range and who each tyre suits
- Premitra HP5. The touring tyre and the one we fit most on cars: quiet, good value, available in a wide spread of 15 to 18 inch sizes for a Corolla, i30, Mazda3, Camry or CX-5.
- Victra Sport 5. The performance tyre for a hot hatch or sports sedan on a budget. Victra Sport 5 SUV covers a performance SUV.
- Bravo HP-M3. The highway SUV tyre for a RAV4, Kluger, Santa Fe or Outlander that stays on sealed roads.
- Razr AT811 and Bravo AT-771. The all-terrains. AT811 is the current tyre for a HiLux, Ranger, Triton, Navara or LandCruiser that does gravel, sand and towing; AT-771 is the older, cheaper, more highway-biased option.
- Razr MT772 and Worm-Drive MT-764. The mud tyres for a 4WD that goes bush every weekend.
- Vansmart MCV3+. The van and light commercial tyre for a HiAce, Transit or iLoad.
Maxxis questions we get asked most
Razr AT811 or Bravo AT-771? The AT811 is the newer tyre: quieter on the highway, better in the wet, and it wears well for an all-terrain. The AT-771 is cheaper and still fine for a ute that mostly stays on sealed roads. If the ute goes off-road at all, the AT811 is worth the difference.
Is Maxxis fine for a family car? Yes. The Premitra HP5 is a quiet, well-made touring tyre and a sensible choice for a car that does suburban kilometres. If the car does high kilometres or long highway runs, a step up to a Korean or Japanese brand will last longer.
All-terrain or mud-terrain? If the 4WD does the school run and a fire trail a few times a year, the all-terrain. The mud tyre hums on the bitumen, wears faster and costs more in fuel; it earns its keep only on a vehicle that genuinely lives off-road.

What Maxxis tyres cost
Maxxis sits at the value end for passenger cars and in the mid-range for 4WD tyres. A Premitra HP5 in a common 16 or 17-inch size is usually $140 to $200 a tyre at Melbourne retailers; the Razr AT811 and Bravo AT-771 land between $220 and $350 depending on the size, well under the equivalent Bridgestone Dueler or Goodyear Wrangler.
