The BFGoodrich range and who each tyre suits
- All-Terrain T/A KO2 and KO3. The tyre that made the brand's name in Australia. Tough sidewalls, good on gravel, sand and rock, and still liveable on the highway. The KO3 is the newer version. This is the pick for a 4WD that tours, tows and works.
- Mud-Terrain T/A KM3. For serious tracks, mud and rock. Excellent off-road, but loud and quicker to wear on the bitumen. Best on a 4WD that is not the daily driver.
- Trail-Terrain T/A. Sits between a highway tyre and the KO2. A sensible choice for a Kluger, Everest or Pajero Sport that does dirt roads and campsites but mostly stays on sealed roads.

BFGoodrich questions we get asked most
KO2 or Trail-Terrain? If the 4WD genuinely goes off-road, get the KO2 or KO3. If it's mainly a family car that sees a dirt road on holidays, the Trail-Terrain is quieter, lighter on fuel and lasts longer on the highway.
Will they fit under my ute? Most people go up a size at the same time. We check clearance, speedo error and legal limits before you commit, and we'll tell you if a lift or trimming is needed.
Load rating for towing? A caravan or heavy tray needs an LT (light truck) construction tyre with the right load index, not a passenger-rated one. We match the tyre to what you actually tow. See also our trailer and caravan tyres page.
Re-torque after fitting? Yes. Alloy wheels on a 4WD should have the wheel nuts checked after the first 50 to 100 km. Drop back in and we'll do it in a couple of minutes.

Fitting, balancing and alignment for 4WDs
Big, heavy tyres need careful balancing or you feel it through the steering wheel at 100 km/h. We balance every BFGoodrich on the Hunter SmartWeight Pro and set the wheel alignment on the Hunter Hawkeye Elite, which matters more on a lifted or loaded 4WD than on a hatchback. If the ute is due for a diesel service as well, we'll do it in the same visit.
