Tesla Service in Melbourne, Without the Service-Centre Wait
Tesla builds the drivetrain to be left alone. What it can't engineer away is physics. A Model Y is a two-tonne car with instant torque, and the tyres, suspension and brakes carrying that load wear like any other car's, often faster. That mechanical side is what we service at our Knoxfield workshop, for Model 3, Y, S and X.
Up front, the honest scope: we don't touch the high-voltage battery, its coolant, or the drive units. That's Tesla's territory. Everything that wears, which is everything between the battery and the bitumen, is ours.
The Tesla jobs we actually see
Tyres, endlessly. Tesla tyre wear is the most common complaint in the EV world. Most of it comes down to a heavy car with instant torque running on alignment that's quietly drifted out of spec. EV-rated tyres fitted and balanced, with a Hunter wheel alignment in the same visit. That combination actually fixes the wear rate rather than just replacing rubber faster.
Suspension knocks and clunks. Front upper control arms, bushes and sway bar links on Model 3 and Y wear early under the car's weight. Conventional parts, conventional repair, quoted in writing first.
Brakes that rust rather than wear. Regen braking is so effective the friction brakes barely work, so discs corrode and callipers stick. The one day you need a full emergency stop is the wrong day to find out. Periodic brake servicing keeps them alive.
The 12-volt battery. The most common Tesla "breakdown" isn't the big battery. It's the small one that runs the computers. Tested and replaced before it strands you.
Cabin filters, wipers, washers. Still cars, still on the schedule.
Out of warranty is where this makes sense
In warranty, use Tesla for anything Tesla-specific. That's what the warranty is for. Out of warranty, paying service-centre rates and waiting on app-based bookings for a control arm or a set of brake pads makes a lot less sense. That work is conventional, we do it daily, and you talk to the person doing it.
